Privacy notice for Bee & Cairn and Jō Shmō · Version of 28 September 2026
Bee & Cairn and Jō Shmō are operated by Folklore LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA. The Lost Travelers Club and Guy-Wire operate under Folklore LLC. Its operator, Rev. Rabbi Henry-Cameron Allen, works from Spain. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].
Postal address: [FOLKLORE LLC ADDRESS TO BE ADDED]
Each message you send, together with the conversation so far, goes to Anthropic PBC, an AI company in the United States, so that the companion can write a reply. Anthropic handles those messages as our processor under its data processing terms. It does not train its models on them, and it deletes them within 30 days, except that a message flagged by its safety systems may be kept for up to two years.
We do not store your conversations. There is no account and no database of what you wrote.
On Bee & Cairn, the conversation lives only in the open page and disappears when you close or reload it. On Jō Shmō, it is kept in your own browser until you close the tab, so a reload does not wipe it. It reaches our servers only to fetch a reply.
To keep a copy, use Save this conversation (Bee & Cairn) or Take a copy with you (Jō Shmō). Either one makes a text file on your own device. We never see it.
Bee & Cairn's server uses your internet address for a moment, in memory only, to stop the service being flooded. It is not written down. Both companions run on Cloudflare, which carries the traffic and may keep standard technical logs under its own terms.
We process your messages for one purpose: to reply to you. What you write may reveal things about your health, so we ask for your explicit consent before the first message is sent. That is the tick box above the companions. Under European data protection law it is our basis under Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time by stopping. Because we hold nothing afterwards, there is nothing more for us to delete.
Some US states, including Washington and Nevada, protect consumer health data. The only such data involved here is what you type. We collect it only to give you the reply you asked for. We share it only with Anthropic, to write that reply, and with Cloudflare, which hosts the service. We never sell it and never use it for advertising.
Anthropic is in the United States. Transfers to it are covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses in its data processing terms. Cloudflare uses the Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
You may ask to see, correct, delete or take a copy of your personal data, object to its use, or withdraw your consent. Because we keep no conversations, we will usually have nothing to return, and we will tell you so plainly. Write to [email protected]. If you are in the European Union, you may also complain to Spain's data protection authority, the AEPD, or to the authority where you live.
The companions are for people aged 18 and over.
If you are in danger right now, please reach a person. In the USA, call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741. Anywhere else, contact your national or local crisis service.
A paid option that saves conversations is planned. It will come with its own notice and its own separate consent, and it will not change anything on this page for people who use the free companions.
